SUMMARY:Webinar: Road Markings for Motorcyclists’ Safety
DESCRIPTION:How targeted road markings can prevent motorcycle crashes\n\nMotorcycle riders are taught in riding school that road markings are slippery. Although this is not true\, this belief is sufficient to influence rider behaviour. Motorcycle riders tend to cut curves\, which is particularly dangerous in curves with poor forward visibility. Hence\, placing road markings where riders should not go\, e.g. close to the centre line in a tight left-hand curve could keep riders away from oncoming traffic. And it does work! Several studies proved the concept. Crash statistics showed that 80 % of the crashes in the respective curves can be avoided on average. \nWhat you will learn \nExperts from countries that have already implemented this intervention will share their experiences and lessons learned\, including: \n\nStakeholder acceptance and resistance\nSupporters\nSafety impacts\nTechnical and operational challenges\nRecommendations for successful deployment\n\nSpeakers \nWelcome & Introduction\n \n\nJesper Christensen (FEMA & FIM)\n\nInternational Experiences  \n\nUroš Brumec – Slovenian Infrastructure Agency (Slovenia)\nMario Mongiardini – The University of Adelaide (Australia)\nPaul Mangen – National Road Administration (Luxembourg)\nKateřina Bucsuházy – Transport Research Centre (Czech Republic)\nAlba Martínez – The Motorcycle Sector in Spain (Catalonia)\nChristoph Rösler – Road Construction Department NRW (Germany)\nDavid McKenzie – Transport Scotland (Scotland)\nMartin Winkelbauer – Austrian Road Safety Board (Austria)\nLaurent Fontanellaz – OFROU (Switzerland)\nJan Petter Wigum – Nord University Business School (Norway)\n\nJoin us to explore a proven and cost-effective road safety measure that can significantly reduce motorcycle crashes on rural roads. \n  \nRegistration Webinar: Road Markings for Motorcyclists’ Safety 2026\nThe webinar will be held via Microsoft Teams.\n \nBitte aktivieren Sie JavaScript in Ihrem Browser\, um dieses Formular fertigzustellen. \n Name Company Consent\n \n \n Name *VornameNachnameEmail Address *Company NameData Protection Consent *By registering\, I confirm that I have read the applicable data protection provisions of KFV and agree that my personal data (name\, email address\, company) may be processed electronically by the KFV and the organizing team for the purpose of event administration. This consent may be withdrawn at any time without stating reasons (by mail\, email to veranstaltungen@kfv.at\, or fax to +43 (0)5 77 0 77 1186).Register \nIf you have any questions\, please contact Martin Winkelbauer: veranstaltungen@kfv.at \n  \nSupported by FEMA
